Basildon Athletic Club Mission Statement

Basildon A.C is committed to offering the most up-to-date techniques and best practices available to develop top quality opportunities for our members, which are competitive athletes, coaches and technical officials. To achieve this, we will identify new opportunities and develop the best pathways forward for progression by continual review of current practices and procedures within the club. This will be for the benefit of the Athletics Club and every Member.

Why should I compete?

I believe that people should compete, and join in with competitions because it allows people too see what you have achieved and how you have progressed.
It’s also a lot of fun and you can meet new people, in doing so this will mean you will begin to enjoy attending training session and competitions. Would you enjoy training on your own?
When I first joined I was by myself, and I didn't make the effort to get to know anyone, this made coming to athletics un-enjoying, but as I started to compete and make more effort, I found attending athletics and competitions something I looked forward to, as I had more friends and more people I could talk to.

If you think there is no point coming to competitions because your are just a non scorer, well attending would be your chance to show that you are better than people think, and then you could end up being B string or even A string.
Also competitions are not just about the event it’s a fun day out with your friend and it’s the taking part that counts, coming last shouldn't matter either as it's not just your position that should count, no matter where you come your club will get points, also concentrate more on your time then your position as you may get a personal best (PB). Also you have to remember that the people you’re competing against also train so you can't expect to come 1st all the time.
Remember this next time you say no to a competition.

Adam, Caroline, Charlotte.
